How Much Full Dip To Spray a Car

See our Images Below to help give you an Approximate Guide for How Many 4 Litre Tins you Need to spray your Car:

You need to apply a minimum of 6 coats. We always apply a minimum of 8 coats as this gives more strength and better protection to your finish.
So if you have any full dip left in the tin, then keep going and apply an extra coat or more!
The quantities below are based on matte colours with no base coat needed as a primer and not using gloss top coats. Some colours like matte yellow need you to use matte white as a primer or base coat.
In that situation just apply 2 coats of white and 4 coats or more of yellow. If yellow is going over an existing white surface, then no need for base coat.
Dark colours like camo green or matte black do not need a base coat.
So to try make some sense of all this, lets pick a car that needs three 4 litre Tins to complete the spray job.
The fist car to be finished in matte black and because it does not need a base coat then just spray three tins and your finished.
The second car to be finished in matte yellow. Spray one tin of white as base coat until you have used all the white and spray 2 tins of yellow on top.
